South of the Border

Well, after Colorado, we flew back late on Saturday, finally got home around 11:30PM. We unpacked, repacked and went to bed. At 7AM, we took off with our backpacks and bikes and rode to Reagan National Airport to fly down to Florida. It was quite a feat (plus no parking fees!). For those of you unfamiliar with the area - the feat was really being able to ride our bikes to the airport - it was only 5 miles, so not really a HUGE bike ride - but great adventure.

The goal of our trip to Florida was to visit with Paul (especially when he wasn't going to make it home for Christmas) and the Orange Bowl where Wake was playing this year. Well, Paul made it home, so we just got some bonus time. Paul threw quite the New Year's bash and we rang in the new year down on the beach with the waves crashing behind us and fireworks in front :)

The next day we road-tripped down to Miami to meet up with friends and enjoy Orange Bowl festivities. The game was incredible! It was so fun to see Wake down there - it's amazing that our little school did so great. It was great to visit with friends. Definitely a highlight for both of us was the flyover at the beginning though. Just at the end of the National Anthem, there was this phenomenal and close flyover - it just took our breath away! Then the Jocko's took us back to Tampa where we flew out to head home (finally!). Our trip up to Tampa was fun as we went across Alligator alley and got to see some Gators :)

So, I don't want to ramble too long so there's my holiday update. So far, our year has started off well...more soon :) Posted by Picasa
