Getting Closer...

Well, we are getting closer to our due date. Less than a month now - it's definitely getting exciting. We had a healthy report yesterday - she is just over 6 pounds and gaining about 1/2 pound per week...the daunting reality of delivery is beginning to sink in. But Brad and I are making the most of our time together before our friend arrives.

We finished out February with Brad's birthday - complete with cupcakes and Chipotle! The next day we headed off to Atlanta for Kara's wedding! It was beautiful and so fun to see them together. We are glad for the opportunity to make it down for the celebration! We did have a chance to explore Atlanta a little - so we headed off to the Coke Museum, tasted a gamut of drinks from all over the globe. Some were pretty good - some, I'm grateful we don't have readily available here in the States. Next, we did Centennial Park (right across the street). Although, due to the drought in Georgia, none of the fountains were working and the grass was a bit barren, but it was fun to wander the park. For lunch, we went up to the CNN building, wandered inside, found the food court and the Hummer that the CNN team used in Iraq. Last weekend, we had an "in-town" vacation or, as they said on the radio yesterday, a "Stay-cation". We tried to explore our city a little, ignore chores and just enjoy each other's company. You know those conversations that seem to only happen when you go on vacation? The ones that take some time to warm up to, and to relax enough to have? Those were the conversations we got to have - it was fantastic! We went to Meridian Hill Park (way Northwest - 16th & U). We wandered the park and then decided to take out the frisbee for a bit. This group of adorable second graders came to walk the park as well and got involved in a game of frisbee with Brad - he showed his patience, but also his love of playing with these kids. It was great to watch. Then home again to relax and then we went to Del Ray to try a new restaurant (new to us, anyway) - the Del Merei Grille.

Saturday we wandered to Shirlington for breakfast, relaxed for a bit and then went down to the National Building Museuem. The exhibit on the history of Washington DC was particularly interesting. The building was beautiful, though. They were setting up for a banquet of sorts that night - Brad captured some interesting pictures of the tables set up. Then we went to the Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse for dinner & movie. It certainly wasn't the cheapest dinner or movie, but what a fun way to just do something different!

Sunday we returned to reality, chores and general life stuff, but really cherished our few days to relax together. Fortunately, vacations are over yet! This weekend we head to Virginia Beach to catch up with the Hursts for a little family vacation. Brad will run his half marathon on Sunday and we'll take a few extra days to relax.
